Reena Augustine is the founder and brains behind Red Carpet Functions, an organisation that provides a platform for independent designers, models, performers and artists in Brisbane and showcases their work to the public.
She’s also the winner of the Young Community Achiever Award, awarded by the India Australia Business and Community Awards (IABCA) in 2018.
Reena was recognised for the work she has done through Red Carpet and her other achievements; Queen’s Baton Bearer in the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast and as Multicultural Ambassador for her community work.
She also won the Mayor’s Multicultural Roundtable. As a result, she launched the Reena Augustine Association for Multicultural Enhancement (RAAME). It’s a nonprofit organisation which collaborates with communities to highlight various charitable causes.
A vision of migrants working together
Reena migrated from South India to Australia in 2009. She quickly identified a need for the multicultural community to work alongside each other to highlight the contributions of the migrant community in Brisbane.
After launching Red Carpet Functions, she’s hosted a number of key events in collaboration with the Ethiopian, Korean, Indonesian and other communities in Brisbane, and overseas.
Reena’s vision is to unite Australia’s multicultural community by removing racial barriers and replacing them with a sense of belonging.
Her impact on the multicultural community has been recognised in multiple fields.
We wish Reena all the very best in her efforts!
